Real Desert Island Discs

The first of these events was held at the Vortex in 2014 when I interviewed Doctor Alex Salam about his experience living in Antarctica for 13 months working for The European Space Agency.

Taking the same form as Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, the idea is that we interview people who’ve actually had extreme experiences in remote parts of the world, talking to them about their time there, how music affected them and in retrospect what eight tracks they might have taken with them. All music is performed live.
